Then you may be a good fit for Job Corps’ Cisco-Certified Network Associate training program. 

On the job, you will ... 

  • Analyze, test and evaluate computer networking systems 
  • Perform maintenance so that networks operate correctly and with few interruptions  
  • Analyze networks’ data to determine network usage, how much disk space is available and how the server is functioning  
  • Set up guidelines for installing or testing local area networks (LANs) or wide area networks (WANs) and configure server and network security settings

Most Cisco-Certified Network Associate Job Corps graduates go to work for mid-size to large companies that have extensive computer networks. On the job, you will be expected to display integrity and dependability, organization, attention to detail, and focus.  

Students may go on to study in the many Advanced Training paths for Information Technology, including Advanced Cisco-Certified Network Associate Cyber Security Ops, Advanced A+ Administrator, Advanced Computer Systems Administrator and Advanced Microsoft MCSE. 

The credentials you will earn ... 

This is the final level of basic training offered in the Cisco series. Students who complete the Cisco-Certified Network Associate training program can earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and Cisco. Credentials such as these show that students are ready for positions in computer programming and repair. 

Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program. 

 What you’ll need to start training ... 

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers) 
  • Completion of all introductory and career preparation courses 
  • Passing scores on all written and performance tests 
  • Meet academic (math and reading) requirements
