With 46 years of experience in the field and several years teaching high schoolers, Mike enjoys passing on his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of aspiring workers. Outside of Facilities Maintenance, Mike enjoys fostering relationships between Job Corps and the local community.

Jose Abeyta

has been working as a tradesman for 10 years. He has worked in electrical, plumbing and HVAC, as well as new, commercial and residential construction. He first entered the field right out of high school. His experience working in facilities and construction led him to his current role at Fred G. Acosta Job Corps, where he shares his experiences and knowledge with students.

Charli Abikzer - Plumbing - Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center

Charli Abikzer

Plumbing instructor at Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center, is nearly a 20-year plumber. She has finally reached her goal of being able to share the wealth of knowledge she has acquired over the years and has had the privilege of working with some of the most fascinating minds across the country. Charli now has a skill set that will keep her employed for life and can instill this mindset to her children and students: “Yes, you can. It might be difficult, but not impossible.” 

Christopher Mason - Security and Protective Services - Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center

Christopher Mason

joined Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center in July 2021. He has held a variety of roles in the industry, including security management, security operations, correctional officer, K-9 handler, emergency medical 911 dispatcher and advanced firefighter-EMT. Chris enjoys all aspects of public safety and enjoys teaching the skills needed to be successful in the security and protective services field. 

Michelle Arnold - Certified Medical Assistant - Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center

Michelle Arnold

Certified Medical Assistant instructor at Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center, is a Medical Administrative Assistant graduate of the center. After graduating, Michelle worked for several years as an MAA. She returned to Fred G. Acosta Job Corps to study to be a clinical medical assistant. She was offered a position as a CMA and worked for several more years. Michelle applied for the CMA instructor position at Fred G. Acosta Job Corps and was offered the position. She is now teaching future CMAs in the same classroom she graduated from.

Gustavo Swanquist - Basic Collision - Non-Structural Analysis & Damage Repair - Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center

Gustavo Swanquist

was a student at Job Corps from March 2014 to August 2014, when he graduated with Collision Repair certification. After completing his training at Job Corps, he was offered a job at Precision Toyota Collision Center. He also previously worked for Amazon doing body repair and painting of their delivery vans for two years. Eight years after graduating from Job Corps, he was offered the Collision Repair instructor position at Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center for the same class he graduated from in 2014.
