The Wilmington Job Corps Center is located in Wilmington, Delaware, right across the river from downtown, just a short drive from the Historic Greater Brandywine Village Schoolhouse. The center is housed in one building on a nonresidential campus.
After 15 years of effort, Delaware lawmakers were finally able to secure a Job Corps Center in the state, and in January of 2004, the Wilmington Job Corps Center opened its doors to its first students. The $7 million center is located on the site of the old Wiltex Building, also called Eagle Mills. While most of the building was demolished to make way for the modern campus, the textile mill’s historic smokestack was preserved and still stands on the site today, one of the tallest structures in that part of the city.
