Muhlenberg Job Corps Student Receives Scholarship

Kitumaini Nturubika, who was born in Congo and later became a resident of Orlando, Florida, enrolled as a student at Muhlenberg Job Corps in May 2012. During his enrollment, he successfully completed the Medical Office Support and Pharmacy Technology trades. He is currently enrolled at Madisonville Community College where he was awarded the John T. Smith Scholarship of $675. John T. Smith was the first African-American community college president in Kentucky, serving from 1968-1975.

Recipients of the John T. Smith award must be Kentucky residents, have at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) in high school or college, be part of a racial minority, and be enrolled for at least six credit hours. Kitumaini currently holds a 3.0 GPA, is working to become an Occupational Therapist, and is one of seven Muhlenberg Job Corps students currently enrolled at Madisonville Community College.
