Job Corps National Director
Rachel Torres serves as the National Director of the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Job Corps program. She brings more than 30 years of experience in Federal service to this role, and has served DOL in a variety of leadership positions over the years, including as the Budget Director of the Job Corps Division.
Her vision for Job Corps includes the following goals:
- Ensure that Job Corps ranks as a first choice for students.
- Deliver a positive, student-centered experience for all Job Corps students, much like they would find in a college environment.
- Develop and expand meaningful partnerships with employers, trade unions, community organizations and more, serving both students and workforce that needs them.
- Ensure a successful transition to employment for students.
She is a member of the African American Federal Executive Association and serves as vice president of its board of directors, and she recently joined the board of I Am We Are Youth, an organization that strives to empower youth with the tools to confidently own their future.
She holds both a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in public administration from Baruch College, City University of New York.
