Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center is located on a 26-acre campus in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, just a short drive from downtown Kansas City. The main center is located in a residential neighborhood. The Kansas City Alternative Training Location, the center’s nonresidential satellite location, is located in the midtown area of Kansas City.
The history of the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center goes back to the late 19th century when, thanks to the believed healing properties of its mineral waters, the town of Excelsior Springs became known as a health resort. Back then, the site was owned by Colonel E.L. Morse who built the first structure, his home, in 1896. In the 1920s, under the supervision of Colonel Morse, more structures were added, and the site became the Veterans Administration Hospital. The site remained a hospital until 1963. In 1965, after about $375,000 in rehabilitation work to the site and its structures, it became the Job Corps center that it is today.
Our campus' residential living facilities can house 192 male students in four dorms and 160 female students in two dorms. Each room has a private bathroom. Residential students live with up to three roommates and enjoy the following amenities:
- laundry facilities
- TV lounges
- vending machines
- computer labs
We also serve non-residential students.
Students stay in separate male and female dormitories. There are four students in each dorm room. Your room will be assigned to you upon arrival at the center.
Job Corps values diversity and will provide you with opportunities to live and interact with people of many different backgrounds.
